I made this dish because pork shoulder steaks were on special this week at lidl I think they were about £1.70 for three. The steaks were trimmed of excess fat and egg washed then coated with packet bread crumb’s with a heaped Tsp of polish all purpose seasoning sold in Lidl occasionally I also use this in my southern fried chicken dish which I will be making some time.
This is a picture of the seasoning it was £1.50 for 1kg and really goes a long way and adds something to this dish.
1 pack of three pork steaks fat trimmed off
150g of packet bread crumbs mixed with 1 heaped Tsp of polish all purpose seasoning or any other of choice.
3 small sweet potatoes
1 large handful of frozen green beans
2 knobs of butter
Salt and pepper
Fresh chopped parsley optional
Prick the potatoes along there length with a fork and place in the microwave for 7min on high or till soft when pierced with a knife.
Pre heat oven 180c
Add 4 Tbsp of veg oil to a large frying pan on a medium heat
Crack egg onto a plate and beat coat steaks with egg then into breadcrumbs fry on each side for about 4 min then place on a baking try and put in the oven for 15 min
Dice carrot into 1cm cubes add to a bowl with 1Tbsp of water cover with cling film and microwave for 7 min on high test with knife they are soft.
Place green beans in a bowl cover with cling film and microwave on high power for 8 min add butter when done.
Cut sweet potatoes in half length ways and scoop out flesh with a spoon and add to carrot mash with butter salt and pepper and add parsley if desired.
By this time the steaks will be done.
It sounds that there is a lot going on but the veg stays warm in the bowls after cooking in the microwave if cling film is left on.
I cook a lot of my veg in the microwave its faster and retains more nutrient’s cabbage broccoli carrots sweet potatoes peas cauliflower can all be cooked this way.
Give this one a go if the steaks are a little thick flatten before adding breadcrumbs.
